Lukas
I was born and raised in the footsteps of the Austrian Alps with a mother concerned with the body and a father engulfed in history and explorations. He taught me how to paint and develop images in our home-made darkroom. My first memories are from the ancient valleys of Petra in Jordan as we followed my fathers passion of Islamic art every summer into the Middle East. This travel passion has certainly inspired me and over last 20 years I have ventured from East to West and South to a few parts in the North. I created large scale visual research platforms on photographic culture in Afghanistan (Afghan Box Camera Project) and Myanmar (Myanmar Photo Archive). I have founded artist initiatives, connecting European Artists with those in Indonesia (Sewon Art Space) and China (AustroSinoArtsProgram). I have also sourced visual treasures for private collections and museums. The pleasure of finding treasures and stories is deeply engrained in my everyday life. Lukas’ multifaceted projects can be seen here.

I grew up in a house filled with artists. My parents ran a gallery, artists in residency and boutique hotel all in one for over 20 years. It was a world filled with stories and beauty in the heart of Provence. It gave me a sensibility for quality materials and the love for the making process at a very young age. I studied literature and cinema before working as curator in France and China. My true passion developed in the world of finding and listening to peoples stories, often those that are hidden in our fast-paced world. In the last ten years I have created around 400 video portraits of people I met with my on-going series Human Postcards. You can find my TED talk on this adventure here. I have applied the same humanistic story telling for clients such as French Television, Merida, Vittel, Jaccaud Zein Architects, 3Sources, RIMA experience, KAMA lab, Marc Berthier or Terre de Liens.
