We have worked on five continents in the last 20 years on research, sourcing and documentary project. Our in-depth knowledge on places and cultures will help you to find the perfect products and artisans for your needs.

Our way of working has no set rules. Whether you have an exact idea of what you are looking for, are at the very start of your thinking process or want to find new producers for an existing product. We can be your eyes, ears and hands.

An example of a quest we have been put on in the past:

A home decoration retailer wanted to add a small selection of hand crafted silver jewellery in his stores. He wasn’t sure what he wanted but it needed to be very simplistic. He also wanted a good story behind the production of the pieces that sparks the imagination of his clients. Many of his products were massed produced, the jewels should give a spark of direct engagement with the artisans.

Lukas thought about a silversmith, he had worked with previously, in the old Bazar in Peshawar, Pakistan. The Bazar is a trading ground for Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan. Many of the jewellers craft beautiful pieces with this and many other stones. We travelled to Peshawar, to reconnect with Ibrahim, the silversmith. He told us about his way of producing, in his very rudimentary workshop. We made a detailed interview with him, as it was important to understand where his source material is from to create a full transparent story. The best silver source in the area, he said, are Iranian silver coins. Iran has its own silver deposit for coin production. That means the metal does not come from any conflict zone or child labour mine.

Farhad produced for us a simple silver ring made from a single coin. The first piece he crafted turned out to be the prototype for a production of 200 rings.

The client received a full documentation on the production process in photographs and video as well as portraits of the artisan and a written story on the process.

Our client gifted us the prototype as it was made in Lukas’ finger size. He still wears it once in a while as you can see on the photograph.

The logistics element on this specific commission was small. We organised an insured DHL shipment. For other clients we have organised container freight solutions, especially for wood work from Indonesia and accessories we helped produce in Myanmar. Lukas has worked in publishing and has produced books around the world. His in depth knowledge goes beyond the usual shipping routes as some countries and remote regions pose challenges to regular shipping companies.
